We had a great field trip to the Visitor's Center. We saw the new movie which told about Cape Cod, it's formation, diversity and how we need to take care of it. We explored the Museum and saw exhibits teaching us about the history of the Cape. Then we walked on the Buttonwood walk, following the braille trail. The children were fantastic!
Today we went on our first field trip - to Flax Pond. In a marshy little pond on the side of Flax, we saw lily pads, a frog, water bugs, and dragon flies. Then we walked up and down hills and through the muck to our favorite Big Rock! What a great group of explorers!
This fall we will be exploring our part of Cape Cod. Each Elementary class is choosing a town to focus on. We will be visiting the town and observing what makes up a town: town hall, library, medical center/doctors, stores, schools.... We will also be exploring the different areas the town is known for: beaches, parks, marshes, woodlands.... We plan to do some mapping, graphing and reporting of what we have observed. The three classes will share their observations with each other and do some group projects demonstrating what these towns have in common and what is different.
