What an incredible trip! We had so many favorite things that we saw and did: touching the stingrays, seeing giant Myrtle the Green turtle, seeing tons of different fish that we had only seen in books, seeing the bonnethead shark, an incredible octopus, and scuba divers feeding the fish. We learned about how important it is to reduce our use of plastics because of how plastic is polluting our ocean and making our fish sick. What a great trip!
We love Brooks Library and Ann the librarian. Today she told us all about Fiction and Non-Fiction, and she recommended some really great books.
Bon Appetit! That was the title of this year's exhibit at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. The children enjoyed a tour of the gallery, meeting 2 of the artists, seeing the many different exhibits, and doing an art project - making our own faces using food! What a great trip!
What an amazing field trip! We had a lot of fun in the Space Exhibit! We went with Kindergarten and the 3rd-5th grade class. The children explored with classmates and older and younger friends. We got a chance to see what it would be like to be astronauts landing on the moon!
We had a great field trip to the Visitor's Center. We saw the new movie which told about Cape Cod, it's formation, diversity and how we need to take care of it. We explored the Museum and saw exhibits teaching us about the history of the Cape. Then we walked on the Buttonwood walk, following the braille trail. The children were fantastic!
Today we went on our first field trip - to Flax Pond. In a marshy little pond on the side of Flax, we saw lily pads, a frog, water bugs, and dragon flies. Then we walked up and down hills and through the muck to our favorite Big Rock! What a great group of explorers!
This fall we will be exploring our part of Cape Cod. Each Elementary class is choosing a town to focus on. We will be visiting the town and observing what makes up a town: town hall, library, medical center/doctors, stores, schools.... We will also be exploring the different areas the town is known for: beaches, parks, marshes, woodlands.... We plan to do some mapping, graphing and reporting of what we have observed. The three classes will share their observations with each other and do some group projects demonstrating what these towns have in common and what is different.
1st and 2nd grade joined Miss Chelsey's 3rd and 4th grade for a fun morning at the Gathering Place. We started our visit with a Music and Movement class and then had fun decorating pumpkins, cookies and cupcakes! What a treat! Face painting done by one of our 4th graders. Decorating cookies with all kinds of delicous frostings! Moving and signing to "Michael Row Your Boat Ashore" Quiet and calm moment to finish Music and Movement before the fun begins!
What a fantastic field trip!! We had perfect weather and the children were wonderful. We got to visit the Wampanoag village and then the English village. The children spoke to Wampanoags and Pilgrims and learned about their cultures. Today we did a Venn Diagram to compare the 2 cultures and were surprised to find out how many things they had in common, as well as their differences. |
